This workshop will explore approaches to developing robust, fit-for-purpose business cases for major school infrastructure projects (with a focus on new schools), based on the recent experiences with the Department of Education in Queensland.
The workshop will cover:
- The drivers for and benefits of business case development
- Service need assessment – incorporating a long term, cross-sector approach
- How to conduct a robust options assessment process
- Interfaces with design development and planning approvals processes
- Incorporating collaboration with local government, land developers, education sectors and other government agencies
- Case study of a new school in a South East Queensland priority development area where new and rapidly expanding school communities are being created
